Today was a good Saturday. Matt woke up before the sun to go pick up some Young Men and do a service project in Cuyama. They worked hard! Luckily the girls slept til 8 AM and didn’t ask where Papa was. I just let them think he was at work, so when he came home around 2 PM they were excited :) Today I got a ton of laundry washed, folded, and put away. I didn’t get a workout in like I wanted, but sometimes housework feels like a workout in and of itself!
My sister gave the girls this macaron box (below) They brought it to me this morning saying, “Mommy, mommy! We filled it! We filled the box!”
I love how carefully they chose the little items, they included every color in the rainbow!
Matt tried to take a nap after the service project. Pretty difficult to do when you have such adoring children :)
My mom and sister invited us to come to Jocko’s with them for dinner. We got there and the wait was 3 1/2 hours. Um, no. Plan B = Olive Garden!
As we walked in, the smell reminded me of when I used to work there! Breadsticks & alfredo sauceβ¦no wonder I gained more weight working here than at Coldstone ;) I got the Five Cheese Ziti al Forno with Minestrone Soup. Mmm!
Ada took my sisters hat, went and sat in the corner, pulled it over her eyes, and tried to be as still as possible. She looks like a creepy doll or something! We were cracking up.
My girls were quite possibly the worst they have ever been in a restaurant tonight. We switched seats at least three times, tried to bribe them with promises of ice cream later (which backfired miserably), tried to quiet whining, loud noises, sassy-pants remarks, etc. It was exhausting. At least they had us in a separate room and the noise level in there is pretty loud anyway. Lola also acted like Charlie dog for part of the meal. Le sigh.
We came home for baths and bedtime, and everyone is finally asleep. :)
How was your Saturday? What was the highlight of your day?
