Today was a rainy day, so we made play dough to pass the time inside. The girls love mixing the ingredients and putting the food coloring in. I used McCormick’s Neon Food Coloring and the play dough turned out so pretty!
We made hot pink, purple, and blue.
This dough is really soft and fun to knead while it’s warm. Hope you and your children enjoy it!
Easy Homemade Play Dough
Prep Time 2 minutes
Cook Time 3 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup water
- 1/4 cup salt
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
- 4-6 drops food coloring
Instructions

Pour all ingredients into a medium sized pot. Stir to combine, then place the pot over medium heat. Stir constantly until the ingredients start to pull away from the edges of the pot and form a ball. Remove from heat and let rest on the counter until cool enough to handle. Knead the play dough until nice and smooth and have fun!
